In Loving Memory of Edward W. Carter
1946 – 2023
Edward Walter Carter, husband of Joan (Williston) Carter of Napan, passed away at his residence on November 1, 2023, at the age of 77.
Born in Kouchibouguac, NB, on May 30, 1946, he was the son of the late Simon Firth and Edith (Randall) Carter. He was a woods worker by occupation, until his accident on October 10, 1989, and even after 34 years, his love for life was still there. He was a member of the Pentecostals of Miramichi and church was a very big part of his life. A true passion of his was teaching a Home Bible Study sitting around his table.
He was a loyal husband, a loving father of 4 children and a kind friend to all who knew him and he lived a life well worth remembering. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. He was a kind and thoughtful man and will be missed and remembered by many lives he touched. He was a true friend of many.
Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan (Williston) Carter; two daughters: Janice Munn (Donald) of Doaktown, NB and Colleen Carter of Gabon, West Central Africa; two sons: Rev. Brent Carter (Daphne) of Quispamsis and Keith Carter (Angela) of Miramichi; seven grandchildren: Jarvis Munn (Jessica), Mikko Carter (Jessie), Miranda Mills (Evan), Gina Munn, Marissa Carroll (Cody), Kurri Carter (Kelsey) and Kamden Carter (Paula); nine great-grandchildren: Kingsley, Zaara, Eason, Korver, Alaster, Ezra, Tage, Anderson and Evander; two sisters: Noreen Gardiner of Targettvillle, NB, and Edna Flanagan of Beersville, NB; one brother, Charlie Carter (Thelma) of Kouchibouguac, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters: Marion Smith, Barbara Tweedie, Alice Peterson, Marie Colpitts; brothers: Kenneth and Winston; sister-in-law: Lorna Carter; and brothers-in-law: Clayton Smith, Irvin Colpitts, James Tweedie, Curtis Peterson, Joseph Gardiner, Lloyd Flanagan and Gary Henry.
Visitation will be held at The Pentecostals of Miramichi, 146 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 6-8 pm and Monday, November 6, 2023, from 11am – 12:45pm. Funeral service will follow at 1 pm from the church with Reverend Peter Long and Reverend Brent Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Pentecostals of Miramichi Roof Project or Move the Mission would be appreciated by the family.
