It is with much sadness that we announce the death of Helen Sonja (Clark)Simonds of Northampton NB on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock at the age of 85.
Helen was born in Campbell Settlement on October 17, 1938, to the late Harold and Phylis (Bates) Clark.
Helen is survived by her Daughter Nancy Simonds, Sons Ricky (Alice) Simonds, Ronald (Jean) Simonds, Randy (Holly).
Grandchildren Evan Simonds, Haley Paul (Ryan), Daniel Monteith (Tabitha), Jenny Monteith, Adam Simonds (Mallory), Samantha Simonds (Jonathan Ullhorn), Katie Kilfillen (Matthew), Kayla Arsenault (Patrick).
Great grandchildren, Vincent Reginald Kilfillen, Audrey Paul, Hayden, Harlee Monteith.
Also survived by sisters, Joyce Jones, June Price, Linda DesRoches, and Brother Paul Clark.
Besides her parents Helen was predeceased by her husband Reginald in 2022. Brothers, Irvine, Fred, and Gerald, brother-in-law Fred Price, Dave Vance, Ronald Jones, Owen DesRoche, sister in law Lynda Clark and Joan Clark.
Helen and Reginald owned and operated their own trucking company, Reginald J Simonds Ltd. for many years. She enjoyed spending her weekends doing the bookwork, not stopping until balanced to the exact penny…..That was until it was time to go dancing….
Helen and Reg enjoyed many years square dancing with the Woodstock Wheelers, clogging with the Happy Foot Cloggers and round dancing. Everyone knew not to visit on dancing night
They couldn’t be late for dancing. They made so many friends over the years. This also gave her the opportunity to try lots of new recipes for the potluck suppers. She loved to cook; she probably owned every cookbook published.
She started working at Dukeshire’s Orchard Shade Farms in 1973-celebrating her 50th year there last year while turning 85, she enjoyed every minute of it.
She lived in her home until April of 2024 when she moved to her “apartment” at the Carleton Manor. She loved it there and she made so many new friends. We want to thank everyone who made her feel so welcome and special. She was treated the very best and with so much kindness and respect. A very special thank you to all the staff. You were appreciated more than you know. You all are amazing! You became just like family to us. Helen was so impressed everyone called her by name the first day she moved in, she was so happy but unfortunately her time there was short.
We are heart broken to lose her, but we know she is with her family she has been missing.
We love you mum. Until we meet again….
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 2, 2024, at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville NB from 1 to 3PM.
Funeral Service will follow at 3PM in the chapel, with interment at Kirk Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Kirk Cemetery.
