We announce the peaceful
passing of Pauline (Hill) Brooks, predeceased by her husband Douglas
A. Brooks, her mother Mary Elizabeth Cook, and father Alfred Albert
Hill.
She is survived by three
children Cindy Furey, John Brooks and Karen (Ross) Cater, all of
Newfoundland; by six grandchildren Patrick (Poorva) Furey, Elizabeth
and Lauren Furey, Dianna Brooks (Jason), Tristan and Dana Cater; by
great grandchild Anushka Furey; by sister-in-law Caroline Brooks of
Ottawa; by special friend and cousin Claire (Bill) Batt; and by
cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Pauline (Polly) was an active
member of St Margaret’s Anglican Church having served for years on
vestry, choir, praise group, lay reader and as altar server. She was
also a member of the Pastoral Care Department at DECH, and a volunteer
for many years in the Palliative and Extended Care units at
DECH.
She was a beloved wife, mother,
relative, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved people and
laughter and had numerous friends across the entire age spectrum. She
was a friend to all.
One of her favorite songs
“I Did it My Way” (Frank Sinatra) described her wonderful
life. She did indeed do it her way.
In lieu of flowers, donations
in her memory may be made to St Margaret’s Memorial Fund, the SPCA, or
a charity of one’s choice.
