The passing of Neil Austin Jewett of Douglas, NB, husband of Elaine (Ward) Jewett, occurred on February 20, 2024 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 8, 1957 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Helen (Earl) Merrithew and Irvine Jewett.
Neil is survived by his step-sons, Rod Ward (Lori) and Jamie Ward (Dave Ivany); siblings, Joyce Allen (Fred), Hazen Jewett (Darlene), Lester Jewett (Donna) and Charlotte Evans (Steven); 2 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Earl Jr. “Toag” Merrithew and Leon Merrithew.
Neil’s life was a testament to his unwavering passion for two things: his beloved apple orchard and his cherished moments spent hunting and fishing. His dedication to cultivating the finest apples and mastering the art of the hunt was matched only by his generosity in sharing his knowledge and bounty with his brother Lester.
He leaves behind a community enriched by his presence and a world forever touched by his passion.
In keeping with Neil’s wishes the will be no services at this time. A graveside service will be held in the Dayton Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fredericton SPCA or the Canadian Liver Foundation. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
