The passing of
Michael Sandy Sacobie (Sillyboy, Papa Doe) of St. Mary’s
First Nation occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in
Fredericton on Friday January 12th, 2024. He was 76 years
old. Born December 18th, 1947, in St. Mary’s,
NB. He was the son of Michael
Raymond Sacobie (Doctor Mike), and Mary Julie Paul
(Bagun).
Michael was an excellent chef during
his time with the American Army and he continued this role for many
years for countless events. Besides being a chef, Michael had many
different jobs for example he was a carpenter, janitor, taxi driver,
bartender, and a professional bingo player to name a few. Michael
always volunteered when he could, in many different capacities, for
many different events. But most importantly, he was always
there to help someone out.
He is survived by
two sons: Percy Sacobie (Barb) of St. Mary’s, and Michael
Dominic, two sisters Rose Tomah of Maine USA & Myrtle Kennedy
of St. Mary’s, 9 grandchildren; Clinton, Sarando, Tyler,
Anthony, Phoenix, Lucy, Emily, Joe & River, several
great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews as well as his
sweetheart, Glenda Sacobie.
Besides his
parents, Michael was predeceased by his children; Michael, Anthony,
DeeDee & Glen, one granddaughter Celine & her child,
as well as brothers & sisters Patricia, Diane, Raymond, Rita,
Percy, and Ruby.
Resting at 30
Barlow Court, St. Mary’s First Nation on Monday, January
15th, 2024, starting at 2 PM and all-day
Tuesday, January 16th, 2024. A Mass
of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman
Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 17th,
2024, at 11 AM with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant.
Interment will take place in the church cemetery in the
spring.
Donations in
Michael’s memory may be made to the NB Heart &
Stroke Foundation.
Bishop’s
Funeral Home & Crematorium 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton
have been entrusted with arrangements.
