It is with broken hearts that the family of Mark Albert
“Barnzie” Brooks Jr. announce his unjustified passing at the
Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 22nd,
2024. At the age of 71. Born in Fredericton, he was the son
of the late Mark Albert Sr. and Mary Ernestine (Meuse)
Brooks.
Barnzie was a nice genuine person, a traditional man, he
enjoyed gathering berries, fiddleheads and walking the community
greeting everyone he saw in his travels.
He will be deeply missed by his children; Mark Brooks
III(Kareen), Sally Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Elissa Brooks and Jessie
Brooks, his adored grandchildren; Mark IV, Graydon, Tessa, Kohen,
Kingston, Eva, Shaylee, Kaila, Margaret, Kingsley, Mikey, Caleb,
Kailey (Kody) and Gracelyn. His siblings Cindy Brooks
(Sheldon), Linda Verruyt (Bart), Frank Brooks (Lorraine), Randy Brooks
(Sheila), Alice Paul, Sandra Adamen, Tom Brooks (Phyllis), William
Brooks (Stella), Cecil Brooks (Laurie), Ida Henry (Daniel), Arnold
Brooks, Richard Brooks, Dion Brooks, Dana Brooks (Willa), Toby Brooks
(April), Billy Brooks (Jeannie); numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins;
He was also predeceased by his son Jeremy Brooks, brothers,
Patrick “Trackie” Brooks and Wally Brooks; sister Dorothy
Hansen; sisters-in-law Jeannie Brooks and Heather Brooks, his
treasured Uncle Richard (Dic) Brooks and nephews Billy Verruyt and
Tyler Brooks.
The family will receive friends & visitors on
Tuesday, June 25th from 3PM and All-day
Wednesday June 26th, 2024, at the Maqiyahtimok
Center, 250 Paul St, St. Mary’s First Nation. A
funeral Mass will be held at St Anthony’s Catholic Church on
Thursday June 27th, 2024, at 11 AM. A
feast will be held immediately following the service to remember
Barnzie.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Finnie, Dana Brooks, Ryan Adamen,
Bill Brooks, Edward Paul and Duane Paul
