Burns, Lois Ethel Miriam
Lois Ethel Miriam Burns, beloved wife of Leo Michael David Burns, passed away on February 4, 2024, in Fredericton, NB. Born on May 27, 1942, in Maple Grove, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edna C. (Flinn) and John F. Dunphy.
Lois is survived by her husband Leo and her sons, Michael Burns (Jana) of Cornwall, PEI, and John Burns (Monette) of Fredericton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Molly Burns, Elianna Burns, and Owen Burns; her sister-in-law, Norma Patterson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her son, Billy Burns, and her brothers, Donald Dunphy and Arnold Dunphy.
Lois was a devoted family woman who cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished athlete, particularly excelling in Slow Pitch Softball, bowling, and golf. Her love for sports was evident throughout her life. Lois took great pride in instilling Christian values in her sons and was known for her selflessness.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of York Care Centre, Birch Grove, for their dedicated and compassionate care.
A later interment will be held at Hillcrest United Church Cemetery in Stanley, NB. For those who wish to make a contribution in Lois’s memory, remembrances may be directed to Hillcrest United Church Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice. Personal condolences can be shared at www.yorkfh.com.
