A true man of God, Jim lived his life to serve others. In addition to his pastoral work, he was involved in helping the community in many ways. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 68 years, Ferne (Nickerson) Lewis; son, Roger Lewis (Stephanie Webb); son-in-law, Paul Howell; grandchildren, Timothy Howell (Stacey), Diana Lewis, and Laura Richardson (Seth); great-grandchildren, Everly, Avery, and Quincy; sister, Jean Boyd (Rev. Bruce Boyd); sisters-in-law, Della Cole (Rev. Harold Cole, deceased), Ruby McCluskey; Doris Carr (Murray Carr, deceased), Marsha Nickerson-Ellis, and Linda Shalm (Warren); brothers-in-law, John Nickerson (Corinne) and Donnie Nickerson (Rose), as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Joy Howell; grandson, Matthew Lewis; brother, Rev. Gordon Lewis; sister, Beatrice Lewis; mother and father-in-law, Harry and Allena Nickerson; and sisters-in-law Ruth Nickerson and Lois Pearl Nickerson-Mintsis.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Monday, April 1, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Smythe Street Church. Interment will be at the Rusagonis Station Cemetery at a later date. For those unable to attend the Celebration of Life, a livestream will be available at the following link: www.ssc.church/lewis
For those who wish, donations in Jim’s name to the Prison Christian Ministries through the Smythe Street Church would be appreciated by the family.
