Hope Anne Hooper, affectionately known as
“Hopey,” passed away at Pine Grove Nursing Home on August
22, 2024, at the age of 78 in Fredericton, NB.
Born on February 10, 1946, in Black’s Harbor, NB, Hope
dedicated much of her life to educating young minds as an elementary
school teacher from 1966 until her retirement in
2000.
Hope was a loving wife to her husband Kenneth, a
nurturing mother to her son Geoffrey, and a cherished daughter and
sister. She is survived by her husband, son Geoffrey, brother Grant,
half-brother Gary, and niece Nicole Thompson along with her husband
Mike. Hope also leaves behind her grand nephews Keenan, Konner, and
Kohen Thompson. She was preceded in death by her father Horace, mother
Helen, and sister-in-law Faith
Richardson.
Hope was a graduate of Back Bay High and furthered her
education at Teacher’s College, which paved the way for her long and
rewarding teaching career. Outside of her professional life, Hope was
deeply involved in her community and her church, Faith Baptist Church
in New Maryland, NB, where she was a regular attendee and sang in the
choir.
Her hobbies included sewing, walking, and reading,
activities that brought her much joy and peace throughout her life.
A celebration of life service will be held in the near
future at Faith Baptist Church in New Maryland,
NB.
In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Pine
Grove Nursing Home or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements
are under the care of Bishop’s Funeral Home & Crematorium 540
Woodstock Road in Fredericton, NB. Hope’s warmth, kindness, and
dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all
who knew her.
