It is with
heartful sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Heather Ludford
(Munn) of Mazerolle Settlement, NB, on May 11th,
2024.
Donna is survived
by her husband of 49 years, Richard Ernest Ludford. She and
Richard met in December of 1973 and were married On July 26th,
1975. She is also survived by her three children, Sarah
Brooks (Stephen), Dennison Ludford and Harry Patrick Ludford (Carrie),
as well as four grandchildren (Sophie, Deacon, Ada and
Freya).
Donna was born in
Fredericton to Helen Marie Munn (Hodgson) and Donald Telford Munn on
August 20th, 1954. Along with her brother Gary, she grew up
surrounded by family and farm life on the Doak Road on the outskirts
of the city. She enjoyed the country life, spending much
time with her grandparents, riding horses and rambling around with
friends. She was an independent and free soul from a young
age.
She was part of
the Graduation Class of 1972, the first class of the new Fredericton
High School. Upon graduation Donna worked in secretarial and
accounting fields for Dr. Mike MacKenzie, Industrial Machine and Iron
and NB Power. With the birth of their first child Donna made
it her priority to become a homemaker and raise her family.
She felt it was important to volunteer her time at her children’s
schools and with various organizations about Fredericton.
She was also an active member of the Girl Guides of Canada for more
than a decade, through which she made some life-long
friends. Donna was an avid gardener. She felt it
was important to raise her family on home harvested
crops.
Donna’s passion
outside of her family and friends was her desire to travel.
She enjoyed visiting different locations and experiencing what those
cultures had to offer. She had a zest for life and felt it
was important to take risks. When she wasn’t dreaming of
vacations she could be found having “coffee with the girls”,
catching up on family news, local gossip and sharing pictures of
grandchildren.
The family is ever
grateful to the Oncology staff of both the Saint John Regional and Dr.
Everett Chalmers Regional Hospitals and the staff of the Hospice House
in downtown
Fredericton.
Visitation will
take place on Saturday May 18th, 2024, from
7-9PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society and the Hospice House of
Fredericton.
