The passing of Carol Anne Benedict (nee Rice) of Fredericton, NB, wife of Charles David Benedict, occurred on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Hospice Fredericton. Born on June 14, 1955 in Hamilton, ON, she was the daughter of the late Corey Eugene and Lola Pauline (Bower) Rice. After raising her two children, Carol worked as an Educational Assistant for the Fredericton and Durham school districts for many years. She was very creative and particularly enjoyed quilting. She was also involved with the Smythe Street Cathedral bible study and was well loved by her church.
In addition to her loving husband of 50 years, Carol is survived by her son, Joel Benedict (Amanda Douglass) of Fredericton, NB; daughter, Crystal Porter (Jay) of Nelson Hollow, NB; brother, Albert Rice of Bridgetown, NS; sister, Cathy Batson of Bridgetown, NS; three grandchildren, Skyla, Owen and Penelope Porter and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Ronald Batson.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Timothy Snell as well as the Nurses and Staff of Hospice Fredericton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB. A Memorial Service will take place at Smythe Street Cathedral, 913 Smythe Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 2pm with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating, reception to follow. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
