Obituary of Anthony David
Anthony David (Antoine Daoud), 86, of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on the 7th day of July 2024. Born December 15th, 1937 in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the son of the late Assad Daoud and Rofayla Khoury.
He is survived by his wife, Tamen David; children, Assad David (Yolla) of Fredericton, NB, Nancy David of Fredericton, NB, May Boucher (Greg) of Barrie, ON, David David (Maria) of Peterborough, ON, Josephine Nelson (Kevin) of Fredericton, NB, and Ann Manderson (Mark) of Fredericton, NB; 16 grandchildren, Maroon David, Marina Soffee (Timothy), Maria David, Louis Debly (Autumn), Anthony Debly (Laura), Tamina Doyle (Kent), Raymond Debly, Zia Jenson (Lucas), Samantha Messer, Jack Messer, Mackenzie Boucher (Eric Greavette), Maddison Boucher, Chiara Lackey (Kenton), Alexzander David, Melissa Nelson, and David Nelson (Jana Giles), and 8 great-grandchildren, Michael Soffee, Marshall and Maya Debly, Aubrey and Stella Doyle, Viggo Jensen, and Asher and Oakes Lackey. Anthony is also survived by his brothers, Salim Daoud and family in Australia, and Joseph Daoud and family in Lebanon.
In addition to his parents, Assad and Rofayla Daoud, Anthony is predeceased by his sisters, Odette and Hanna.
Anthony was a devoted family man of deep faith whose legacy will live on in the many lives he touched, and with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren he loved. He had many talents and the ability to build, fix, or make anything that he thought of. He worked as a tailor, canoe builder, and painter during his working years, but could also build anything, fix plumbing and electrical and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who asked. He retired from the UNB services building.
Gardening was a passion, and he was always growing something unique from any seeds he could find. He loved hockey and especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. Dad and Mom emigrated to Canada in 1967 and embraced their adopted home with a passion. Dad always said, “May God build and keep this Country in peace.” He was grateful for the opportunities that this country and especially what Fredericton offered to his family and was proud of the many accomplishments of his family. Married in 1964, this September would have been Dad and Mom’s 60th wedding anniversary. Their strong marriage weathered many ups and downs and was a shining example of devotion and commitment for all of their family to follow.
His family would like to thank his many doctors and nurses that were so compassionate in his care, especially Dr. Jeffrey Barton, Dr. Lacey Blyth, 4SE and 3SW nurses at the DECH, Emergency room staff and the many paramedics that visited his home over the years. The family wish to especially thank his nurse, Janet; Dad’s Angel who cared for him with such empathy and understanding and made his last days bearable. Your love and compassion will not be forgotten.
A public visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 3:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Charbel’s Maronite Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11:00 am and will be officiated by Monseigneur Pierre Azzi. Interment will take place following the mass in the Hermitage Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Charbel’s Church.
