It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Allister “Al” Burton Anderson of Fredericton, NB, which
occurred at Hospice House in Fredericton on May 17, 2024, at the age
of 78.
Born July 2, 1945, in Fredericton, NB, he was a son of the
late Freda E. (Shipley) Anderson and the late Earle D.
Anderson. Prior to retirement Al worked in the Engineering
Division of NB Power for 32 years. He was a longstanding
member of Brunswick Street Baptist
Church.
Al leaves behind his wife Anna Isabel (Pitts) Anderson; two
daughters, June L. DeMerchant (Paul) and Teena L. Merrithew (Tim);
five grandchildren, Katie MacMackin (William), Laura Renault (Samuel),
Robert DeMerchant (Marissa DiCarlo), Jessica McCafferty (Brandon) and
Leigh-Anna MacDougall (Garett Cameron); six great-grandchildren, Eliza
and Audrey MacMackin, Olivia and Charlie Renault, Malcolm and Oaklyn
McCafferty; a brother Rodger Anderson (Sylvia) of Charter’s
Settlement; and much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his son,
Paul Lawrence Anderson.
In his retirement Al was a member of the Board of the
Fredericton Direct Charge CO-OP and CO-OP
Atlantic.
Together Al and Anna were fortunate to be able to travel the
world, making memories in such unforgettable places as China,
Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Egypt, Hawaii as well as several
enjoyable winters relaxing in Florida.
The family would like to thank the outstanding care and
compassion that was received from the staff at Hospice House as well
as Dr. Luisa Galvis and her team in the oncology department of the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Hospital.
Visitation will take place at Bishop’s Funeral
Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on May
21st, 2024, from 1pm until 2pm immediately
followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30pm in Bishop’s Funeral
Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Geldart. A private interment will
be held in the Douglas Cemetery.
The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers those
wishing to do so may donate in memory of Al to Hospice House of
Fredericton or a charity of their choice.
