Cynthia R. Salmon
1960-2024
We are devastated to announce the death of Cynthia Rose Salmon at the
age of only 64 years, which occurred on Saturday, November 30, 2024,
at the Upper River Valley Hospital, Waterville.
Cindy was born in Bath, NB and was the eldest child of the late Paul
and Stella Salmon (Budrow). She was also predeceased by her beloved
sister, Susan Watson.
It’s impossible to convey the formidable, exuberant presence we
have lost in Cindy’s passing. For those who loved her, the loss
is a chasm that can never be filled. Cindy was spontaneous, creative,
and filled every moment of life with fun—even the difficult ones.
She loved profoundly, and loved none more than husband Floyd and only
child, Candace. There was nothing she would not do for them, and
ultimately, she fought against an impossible medical condition and
beat the odds for over a decade to share every possible moment with
them.
Cindy’s most frequent parenting motto was, “have all the
fun you can have,” a recognition of her understanding that our
time in this world is short and joy is paramount. She never stopped
planning for the next adventure, and up until 48 hours before her
passing, was knitting a sweater for her canine “baby boy”
and planning a move to Ottawa.
Cindy is survived by her husband Floyd Cronkhite and daughter Candace
Salmon; canine son Fergus; sister Sandra Gagnon; niece Samantha Arndt;
nephews Gerard Gagnon and Bradley (Brianne) Watson; aunts Shirley
(Gerald) Denny and Shirley Clark; step-mother Louanna Salmon
Demerchant (Howard); numerous treasured cousins, extended family and
friends, including Tammy Kearney, who despite any geographic distance
in their lives remained the best and most loyal of friends and Anne
Inman and Stacey Lloyd, who rearranged their lives to be present and
supportive in difficult times. Our gratitude is forever.
Visitation will be held at L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207
Burnham Rd. Florenceville-Bristol on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from
12:00pm – 2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at the Mineral
Cemetery. Snacks and the party will be held at 40 Mountain View
Crescent, Oakland, after the service. The party is what Cindy really
wanted. Although the sorrow we feel is deep, we know that joy cometh
in the morning. We can find it together, even in the darkest of times.
All are welcome to bring their light to these post-service
shenanigans.
Our eternal thanks to the Moncton City Hospital and Dr. Kathy
Ferguson, Dr. Kristina Kemp and Nurse Kelly, Dr. James Hudson and the
incredible hospital nursing staff for years of exceptional care.
Thanks also to Dr. Muhammad Hossain at URVH for the most kind and
gentle care in the end.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Moncton City
Hospital Foundation. In lieu of flowers or donations, though, Cindy
would want you to take that money and go on a spontaneous adventure
with someone that you love. Have all the fun you can have.
Cindy will rest forever in view of our beloved Moose Mountain, from
where generations of our family have come. We take some peace in
knowing that at the end, we all go back to the mountain.
“I lift my eyes up to the mountain from whence cometh my help?
My help cometh from the Lord, maker of heaven and earth.”
… Psalm 121
