Big River, NB – Michael Hirn, of Big River and formerly of Kitchener, ON, passed away on Friday April 26, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 89.
Born in Gakova, Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late Jakop and Katharina (Spitznagel) Hirn.
He worked in sheet metal work for most of his life and was a life member of the German/Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club in Mannheim, ON.
Besides his wife, Margaret (Kunsch) Hirn, he is survived by three children: Kathy Hirn and Elizabeth Hirn-Crane (Jamie) both of Kitchener, ON and Chrisine Hirn (Stephen Stoyko) of Big River.
Two grandchildren: Sarah and Maddie.
One sister, Maria Fairfield of Ajax, ON.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by two grandchildren: Liam and Ryan.
There will be no visitations at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 30, 2024, at 2 p.m. from St. George’s Anglican Church, Bathurst and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday May 5, 2024, at the German/Canadian Hunting and Fishing club in Mannheim, ON. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to the St. George’s Anglican Church or a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
