Bathurst – Jeannot Joseph David, 93, of Bathurst, husband of Lucie (Mazerolle) David passed away on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital in Bathurst.
Born in Pigeon Hill, NB, he was the son of the late Livain and Elmire (Chiasson) David.
Besides his loving wife Lucie, he is survived by one son, Fred (Maureen) of Kanata, ON and two daughters: Jacqueline Young (Doug) of Ottawa and Nicole MacDonald (Terry) of Bathurst. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jessica, Alexa, Douglas, Jeff, Kimberly, Andrew and Jacqueline as well as seven great-grandchildren: Philippe, Émilie, Calvin, Élise, Knox, Nash and Robin.
He also leaves behind one brother, Stephen of Paquetville.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Melinda and two brothers: Eddie and Wilfred.
Just out of high school Jeannot started his career with the Woodlands Division of Bathurst Power & Paper Ltd on October 4, 1950. He started out as a clerk but progressed through the years to become superintendent of purchasing and mechanical superintendent working with the three Divisions of Woodland Sawmill & Manufacturing. He retired in 1990 after 40 years of service.
Jeannot enjoyed multiple sports. In the 50s he was a member of the Bathurst Hockey Papermakers, a catcher with the South Bathurst CYO. He was a member of the Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club as well as Squire Green and a member of the Bathurst Curling Club.
In his retirement, he and his loving wife spent their winters in Florida and summers at their cottage on the beach in Bathurst.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, at 11 a.m. from the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
Donations in memory of Jeannot may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
