Bathurst – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Angelina Thibeault, of Bathurst, which occurred on June 1, 2024, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 73 following a short battle with heart and kidney disease.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie Thibeault of Fredericton (Serge Gagnon).
Two sons: Albert Thibeault of Bathurst and Eric Thibeault of Fredericton.
One grandson and two step-granddaughters: Brandon, Madeleine and Sophie.
She comes from a large family who were her best friends and her former husband, late Albert Thibeault.
One brother, Robert Vienneau (Catherine Duguay) and sisters: Evangeline Hachey, Marie-Ann Boucher, Yvette Gauthier, Claudia Landry (Jean-Noël Bouchard) Regina Couture, Lise Roy (Jacques) et Rose-Marie Pitre.
Several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by a brother, Claude Vienneau (Barbara), five sisters: Roberta Vienneau, Annette Boudreau, Anita Pitre, Bridget Lavigne and Marie-Jeanne Vienneau.
Angelina spent most of her young life raising her children. She was a strong role model, not only to her daughter, but also her sons. She was proud of her kids and would do anything for them no matter what might be asked. Later, when the kids were older, she worked at the Petit Rocher Fish Shop and found a new sense of independence and pride. Pride for what she accomplished in a short period of time such as buying her first car, supporting her daughter at university, and helping any family members in need.
Angelina loved playing cards and shuffleboard, she was so competitive, and her family thinks that it’s this sense of competition that made her survive so many years of hardship. Even in these last weeks, enduring all the failings of her body, she was pushing herself to get better and stronger, not only for her but also for her kids. She was strong-minded, and tough, while also being very sensitive. She could never read a greeting card from her kids without crying mid-way through. She had an amazing sense of adventure and joie de vivre. Just last year, she went tubing down the Nashwaak River with her family and she was found laughing all the way, even though it she thought it was a little cold. She didn’t like the cold.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst, on Thursday June 6, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. till 12 noon. Funeral Service will be celebrated later that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the Funeral Home Chapel.
Donations in memory of Angelina can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation Canada.
Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
