Wilf Steeves passed away peacefully at noon on November 24, 2024, at Poseidon Care Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with his devoted wife, Diane, by his side. He was 81 years old and lived a full life defined by love, humor, and boundless energy.
Wilf leaves behind his wife, Diane (née Bissonnette); his son, Brian (Joanne), and their kids: Eric (Erin) and their daughter Stella, Morgan (Christopher), and Kyle; his daughter, Cathy, and her son Mitchell.
Wilf was a man of many passions and talents. An expert craftsman, he spent countless hours building and flying model sailplanes, carving wood, and creating fine furniture. His competitive spirit shone on the tennis court, where he not only played but organized many fun tournaments for friends. Whether traveling the globe with Diane or riding his motorcycle with Chapter D, Wilf embraced adventure at every turn. He also had a knack for staying active. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Coldstream, BC, and liked to remind everyone he was the oldest—and most fit—guy on the crew. Wilf was the kind of guy who could light up a room with his jokes.
Dedicating many years to Engaged Encounter, Wilf endeavoured to equip young couples with tools to succeed in their own relationships making life-long friends in the process
Professionally, Wilf was as driven as he was personable. From his days as a banker and textile salesman to founding Steeves Agencies, his work always reflected his dedication and charm. He was immensely proud to see his family carry on his legacy, with his son Brian leading the business and grandson Eric rising in the ranks.
Through all of life’s challenges and triumphs, Wilf never lost sight of what mattered most: the relationships he built. He made friends everywhere he went and was always ready to share a laugh, a story, or a rum and Coke.
His legacy will live on in those he cherished most.
The family invites everyone to honor Wilf’s life with a toast, a laugh, and maybe even a joke he would’ve loved. Rest easy, Wilf—you’ll be missed but never forgotten.
Celebration of life will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 774 Archibald Street, Winnipeg Manitoba, on Thursday November 28, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall.
