With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Siegmund “Siggi”, who left us on December 10, 2024, at the Riverview Health Centre.
Siggi was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1953 with his family. Tragically, his mother, Wanda, passed away in Germany before making the journey by ship. Upon arrival, Siggi’s father, Isador, married Waltraut to ensure that Siggi and his siblings would not be placed in foster care.
Throughout his life, Siggi worked in various roles, including at Canada Packers, and he later retired from Krevco Pools and Spas. In 1995, Siggi married his first and only wife, Margaret, who predeceased him in 2017. Siggi was also preceded in death by his sister, Erika, his brother, Gunther, and his stepmother, Waltraut.
Siggi is survived by his stepdaughter, Verna, stepson, Elie, and grandson, Vernon. He also leaves behind his brother, Eddie (Jovanna), sisters Angelica (Terry) and Barbera (Earl), and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, and a burial will be held in the summer of 2025. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate care.
Siggi will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
