It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Santokh Singh Saini at the age of 75 whilst alongside his family.
Born on July 2nd 1949 to parents Soma Devi and Amar Singh in Odhpur India, Santokh lived a meaningful and peaceful life while constantly catering to those around him. He grew up as part of a big family and the youngest of five siblings. Santokh had various hobbies throughout his childhood and teenage years including playing kabaddi and field hockey. As Santokh grew into early adulthood, he attended Government College Tanda Urmar. Along his journey, Santokh was most happy spending quality time with family and friends, constantly wanting to bring people together while being as hospitable as one can be. Santokh also loved to work on and ride around in his car and motorcycle, travel, and was an avid farmer.
Santokh got married to Shashi Kanta Saini, and immigrated to Winnipeg MB Canada in 1991. Santokh and Shashi gave birth to three children: Seema Saini (son-in-law Brett Turcotte), Rittika Saini (son-in-law Marlon Mahadeo and granddaughter Raveena Mahadeo),and Rohit Saini. He loved each of his children dearly and had a unique relationship with each one. Santokh began working in Canada as a taxicab driver for Unicity Taxi, eventually owning his own taxi and later on having dedicated drivers drive his taxi for him after he retired in 2018. Santokh’s taxicab, number 104, is still on the road today. Whilst settled in his new life in Canada, Santokh never forgot his roots. Santokh continued to plant flowers and vegetables in his garden every summer, continued to love unconditionally and constantly visit with friends and family, and always made sure to make daily phone and video calls to his family that is still in India and other parts of the world.
Santokh is predeceased by his parents, one brother, and two sisters while leaving behind his wife, children, granddaughter, sister, nieces, nephews, and a plethora of friends and extended family. The void from his loss is one that will be felt in many parts of the world.
