Melvin Gerald Kurtz
February 2, 2024
August 21, 1947 – January 21, 2024
It is with our deepest sorrow that that we announce the passing of Melvin Gerald Kurtz, a father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
Melvin was born in Kenora, Ontario on August 21/1947.
Growing up on the Kurtz farm with family taught him the value of hard work, which he carried with him always in life. Melvin finished school in Kenora and relocated to Winnipeg, begun a successful career as an automotive mechanic and started his family.
In 2023 Melvin discovered he had colon cancer. He had surgery to remove it and Melvin began to heal and look forward to getting healthy. Tragically Melvin suddenly passed away due to a heart attack on January 21/2024 while at home.
Melvin is survived by his two sons Michael and Joseph(Jolene), daughter Jenn(Rob), his grandchildren Jordyn, Jaymie, Jeremiah(Mother-Josie), Riley-Anne, Rae-Lynn and nieces Stacie, Shannon and Pamela.
A special thank you to Melvin’s sister Bev and husband Gerry, for the love, support and care they have given him over the years.
Melvin will be fondly remembered for his love of cars, (that he has passed on to his sons), boating, fishing and camping.
He was always a quiet man, with few words and will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved him.
As per Melvin’s wishes, there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place.
There will be a private family Celebration of Life held at a later date.
“Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal, Love leaves a memory that no one can steal…”
