Obituary of JAMES DAVID HILDERMAN
JAMES DAVID HILDERMAN
June 1, 1931 – May 16, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Hilderman on May 16, 2024, at the age of 92. Jim is survived by his loving wife Eileen, her two daughters: Charlene (Renald) and their children, Danäé, Imani, Zuri; Sheri (James) and their children, Annika and Simon; Jim’s daughter Kelly (Tony); granddaughter Hayley (Kyle); great granddaughter Emily; and his sister-in-law Elaine and her family in Minnesota.
Jim was predeceased by his brother Allen; his first wife Irene, and their daughter Tracy.
Jim was born on June 1, 1931, to Mary and David Hilderman. He grew up in the North End and graduated from St. John’s High School in 1949. Jim excelled in sports as a youth playing competitive football, hockey and soccer. He was a huge fan of the Jets and the Bombers. Jim’s other interests included golfing, ten-pin bowling, fishing, dancing and music – especially songs from the Rat Pack and Michael Bublé. Jim was adventurous and loved to travel. He and Eileen took cruises to many destinations where they created amazing memories. They especially enjoyed their trips to China, Spain, Portugal and countries in the Caribbean.
Jim had a knack for cooking and trying new gadgets. Jim has had a countless number of friends throughout his life – a testament to his character, compassion and integrity. Jim was a calm and resilient man who had a straightforward approach to life.
Jim worked with his father in the construction field. He also worked at Alsips Building Supply before he started his own business “Jim Hilderman Marketing LTD”. In the 1980s, Jim started another business called Northill Environmental Products – a company he took pride in and was very passionate about.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jim’s life on what would have been his 93rd birthday on Saturday, June 1 at Cropo Funeral Chapel (1442 Main St.) at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served following the service. Please join us and share memories of Jim and how he has touched your life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice or Operation Smile – a charity dear to Jim that helps children born with cleft palate.
