Gary Samson Obituary
The Samson family is saddened to announce the passing of Gary Dean Samson on February 4, 2024, at the age of 55.
Gary was a loyal, devoted and generous son, brother, uncle and great-uncle. He was predeceased by his father, Walter (Wally); brother, Walter; paternal grandparents, Antonina and Konstantine; maternal grandparents, Jean and John.
He leaves to mourn his mother, Gloria; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Donna; sister-in-law, Krista; nephews, Jared (Amanda) and Walter; nieces, Joelle (Cristian) and Kasia; great-uncle to Bradley, Azrielle and Seth; uncle and aunt/god-mother, Nick and Audrey; aunts, Angel and Alice; cousins Debora (David), Nicole, Ethan, Edison and Elle; several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who have remained close.
Gary was born, lived, and educated in Winnipeg. He attended West Kildonan Collegiate and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba. Gary served the City of Winnipeg as a bus driver, wheel-chair transporter, and as a firefighter for many years. He yearned to return to the Fire Department, to the job that he loved most.
Gary enjoyed his motorhomes and he was happy working on cars and other projects. Mechanically gifted, Gary could fix anything he tackled. Researching subjects of any kind was a passion and his knowledge often exceeded an “expert” level. Travelling to Las Vegas, Arizona, Alberta and any place he located a “treasure” that presented him with a new challenge was always a thrill.
