Michael Digby Story, 81, passed away peacefully December 30, 2023 at WestMan Nursing Home in Virden.
Michael was born March 24, 1942, the youngest of three children born to Lorne and Mildred Story. He lived his entire life in Oak Lake until moving into long term care in Virden in 2015.
The simple, bachelor life in Oak Lake suited him. Most of his life included at least one, often two, trips per day to the local coffee shop to enjoy a coffee surrounded by community. His other favorite place to sit was behind the steering wheel of a truck hauling gravel, grain or whatever was needed. Trips to Ontario and Alberta to visit his sisters and their families in the “big cities” were always highlights.
Michael’s extended family would like to thank the staff of The Sherwood Home and WestMan Nursing Home for their warm, thoughtful care.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Lake Cemetery Sunday, January 7 at 2:30 pm.
All coffee drinkers are invited to come and raise a mug to Michael Monday, January 8 at 8:30 am at the Canteen at Oak Lake Curling Rink.
