Obituary
Passed on
March 15, 1952- Oct 17, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Linda Scott announce her peaceful passing after a short illness on October 17, 2024 at the age of 72.
Linda is lovingly remembered by her children, Jean and Kevin (Lacey), grandson Jackson, siblings Les, Terry(Marilyn) and Darlene, Aunt Joan(Lloyd) Lillebo, cousins Larry(Donna), Dale(Paulette), Gord(Laura), Murray(Emma) Slagerman, Rick(Faye) and Wayne(Judy) Lillebo, brother in law Dennis(Diane), nephews Darren(Brianne), Tim(Judy) and Derek(Mel) as well as numerous extended family and close friends and lifelong best friend, Cheryle McClure.
She has been predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Lyn Scott, parents Les and Iris Wedge, aunt Evelyn Slagerman, nieces Melanie Paradise and Jennifer Slagerman.
Linda was active as a trainer/groom in the family’s thoroughbred racing stable. Her favorite horse was Turn to Rule. She received her diploma in Early Childhood Education level 3 with a specialization in daycare administration while working for many years at Downs Children’s Centre, a daycare center started by her mother on the grounds of the racetrack. She ended her career at ACL in Stonewall, providing care to people with disabilities and special needs. She was involved in 4-H and was a founding member of MRCA (Manitoba Rodeo Cowboy Association). Linda was very proud of being made a lifetime member and recognized for her contributions with her husband, Lyn. She married Lyn Scott October 10, 1970 and welcomed daughter Jean in March 1978 and son Kevin in August of 1983. She found so much joy and happiness being with her grandson Jackson, born in March 2015. She loved attending horse races, baking and cooking with her children, singing, playing piano, listening to music, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Red River Place 2 in Selkirk for her care over the past few months.
Service will be held at the Red Barn Stonewall on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024 at 11:00 am.
If friends so desire, donations to Heart & Stroke in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
