It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our loving father, grandpa and great grandpa. Ken passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024 with his family by his side.
Ken will be sadly missed by his children Neil Slater, Noella Lindstrom (Terry), Susan James (Larry) and Jodi Sutyla; His grandchildren Donald (Pamela), Sheldon, Christine (Stan), Sandra, Alex and Travis. Great- Grandchildren Dallas, Bronsen, and Kathryn. Ken was predeceased by his wife Emily, parents Elmer and Edith, siblings Basil, Cecil, Florence and Irene, daughter-in-law Shelly Slater and son-in-law Albert Sutyla.
Ken was born in Teulon on March 10, 1934. On October 17, 1958 he married the love of his life Emily Hammerberg. They continued to live in the Teulon area where they raised their four children. Throughout the years Ken worked at his family farm homestead, at the local hardware
store McLeods, and Ken and Emily also operated their own pig farm with help from their children. Ken hauled gravel for many years and turkey farmed.
Ken loved and took pride in his woodworking, making gifts for his family, friends, and donated many pieces to local charities, Ken enjoyed many interests throughout the years. This included many trips throughout Canada and camping with family. His greatest pastime was going to community dances with Emily and smiling and laughing throughout the dance floor. They both took pride in their yard and garden where they spent many of their days together. Ken also enjoyed playing hockey and bonding with his fellow teammates and was always a big fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs!
Ken was a wonderful, caring and generous man with a perpetual smile. His sense of humor was incredible. Family and friends were the center of his life, and he spent much time with them, making memories that will be forever cherished.
A special thank you goes to the nursing staff and Dr. Loudon at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Teulon – Rockwood Hall on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, family asks donations to be made to the Teulon and District Memory Garden or a charity of their choice.
