Helen Dyck Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Helen Dyck, on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at the age of 94, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter & Maria Wiebe, husband Peter, son Doug, grandson Ryan and nine brothers and sisters.
Left to mourn her passing are her children John (Susan), Kim (Ron) and Bruce (Angie). She is survived by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Helen was born on July 22, 1930, on a farm near Killarney, MB. Her family moved to a farm near Dominion City, MB., where life with her 12 siblings was always interesting. She talked about living along the river where everyone learned to swim. She especially liked swimming and taught her children to swim. The family would always go and pick wild fruit along the river and canning for the winter kept all eight girls busy helping their mother.
In August of 1950 she married a local farmer, Peter Dyck, and took up residence in Arnaud, MB. Peter & Helen had four children, which included a set of twins. She was a great home maker who loved to cook and bake. She always had a large vegetable and flower garden. Her life was very busy with her youngest children who were a set of twins.
Later in life she moved into an assisted living suite at the Niverville Credit Union Manor. She recently moved to the Silver Lining Cottages in Steinbach, MB. She really enjoyed her stay there. She went for walks on the property and liked to sit outside and visit at the Pagoda.
A memorial of her life will be held in the spring of 2025 at the family cemetery by the river which she loved so much while growing up.
We would like to thank the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the care she received in her last days. We would also like to thank the staff at the Niverville Credit Union Manor for her many years living there and lastly the staff at Silver Lining Cottages for the excellent care she received while there. She really enjoyed her time there.
In lieu of flowers donations in Helen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
