Obituary of Eva Fast
With much sadness, we as a family announce the death of Eva Fast of Blumenort, MB., on Saturday, April 6, 2024. She was ninety-six years old.
The sixth of ten children, Eva was born in Linden, MB., to Henry C. and Agatha (Janzen) Fast on August 6, 1927. In 1932, when she was five, the family moved to Ridgewood, and only four years later her father died, leaving her mother a widow with ten children to support on their farm. In 1953 Eva, her mother, and younger siblings moved to Blumenort, and at about the same time, she began her life-long career of teaching in communities across Manitoba. Her retirement was filled with genealogical work, her garden, and her family.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Edmar and Alice Fast, sister Agatha Grant, brother-in-law Eric Toews, and forty-six (or many) nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Agatha Fast and her siblings and their spouses Vern and Nettie Fast, Helen and Frank Plett, Cornie and Dora Fast, Wilbert and Tina Fast, Margaret and Henry Plett, Albert and Virginia Fast, Alvina Fast, Anne Toews, and Chris Grant.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing at the chapel one hour prior to the service. The interment will take place at Clear Springs Cemetery, R.M. of Hanover, MB., following the reception.
