Shelly-Ann Cain Obituary
Shelly-Ann Cain (nee Law)
Sadly, we announce the sudden passing of Shelly-Ann Cain at the age of 58 on September 18th, 2024.
Shelly was the daughter of George Law and Barbra Vernie. She will be forever missed by her loving husband Richard, sons Tyler (Maisy) and Michael, as well as her mother and brother Barrie (Jackie) Law and step brother Robert (Trina) Finkle. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Shelly was born on October 20th, 1965 and grew up in Selkirk. When Shelly was still in high school she met Richard in Tae Kwon Do and started dating in January 1982 and they moved to Winnipeg soon after. Shelly and Richard were married in 1987 and spent many years together enjoying nature and raising their kids while having fun along the way.
Shelly worked for 11 years at Carlton Cards before she received her Business Administration Diploma. She then went on to a long career of 26 years at North West Company. She developed a passion for gardening with Richard, spending many weekends at the garden centres. Everyone knew her as Christmas Shelly and her passion and love for Christmas showed her true selflessness and sharing the joy of Christmas with everyone around her. In her free time, she loved doing puzzles, knitting dish cloths and watching Hallmark Christmas Movies.
She was a great asset in Richard’s Tae Kwon Do school, handling the business as well as the heart to hearts with the students. Shelly was a very loving, caring mother, wife and friend that put everyone before herself. She was known for her direct and genuine communication style, but picked up on Richard’s sense of humor in life.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A celebration of her life will be at a later date with her close friends and family.
Her family would like to thank the staff for all they could do for her at the Selkirk General Hospital.
