Ty Kenneth Skelly
September 5, 2005 – June 27, 2024
After a lengthy battle with cancer, with his family by his side, Ty passed away at the age of 18 years.
Ty was predeceased by his grandfathers Ray Koenigbaur and Ken Skelly. He is leaving behind his best friend and dad Kevin, his mom who he loved, Jen and his sisters Nicole and Kate and his pup Stella who he adored. Also leaving behind are his grandmothers Joan Skelly and Diane Koenigbaur, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends too numerous to mention.
Ty was born in Winnipeg at St. Boniface Hospital. He attended Oak Bank Elementary, Springfield Middle School and recently graduated from Springfield Collegiate. At a young age he developed his passion for sport and excelled at soccer, hockey, badminton, and loved riding his dirt bike and snowmobile. Later in life when his health limited his ability to participate, he developed his skills as an armchair GM and coach of the Jets and Bombers, who he followed passionately. During the summer, he enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake.
Another passion of Ty’s was music. He acquired a taste for good music, by listening to his dad’s band. From Rock N’ Roll, to the 80’s and 90’s Ty’s playlist always had the hits. He loved playing his music loud.
There were many obstacles that limited Ty’s abilities, but he always remained positive. He had a strong work ethic and was always busy, whether it was helping his dad making signs in the shop, clearing the snow in winter and meticulously cutting the grass in the summer.
Our family would like to thank all the many doctors and nurses who overseen Ty’s medical care. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to Dr. Bruce Martin, who was Ty’s angel on earth for his unwavering care and support for the later part of his life.
Ty’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 1:00pm at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church 3597 Main Street in West St. Paul, Manitoba. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, play a favourite 80’s or 90;s rock song as loud as you can in Ty’s memory.
