Surrounded by her family, Arlene passed peacefully on June 15 at the age of 83.
She was predeceased by her father, Walter, mother Edna, brother Ray, sister-in-law Aldynne, niece Shannon and her brother Laurie.
Arlene and Jerry, her husband of almost 63 years, began their lives together in Winnipeg where their four children Sylvia (Joe), Shannon, Susan (Patrick) and Robert (Sheryl) were born. They moved to the Cooks Creek area in 1972, where her love and talent for gardening became very evident. She took a lot of pride in her park-like yard and gardens where she grew beautiful flowers and loads of garden vegetables. To say she had a green thumb would be an understatement.
Arlene was also active in the community and became an honorary member of the Kinettes for her involvement in running the bingo canteens. She also encouraged and supported her husband while he worked on large Kinsmen projects such as the Kin Place Seniors Complex in Oakbank.
Arlene loved her family very much. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the most important things in her life and she will be dearly missed by her family.
A come and go celebration of Arlene’s life will be held on Saturday, July 6 between 11:00am and 2:00pm at Seasons Funeral Chapel 576 Balsam Crescent in OakBank.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Care Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
