Melvin McKay Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Melvin McKay on September 2, 2024 at the age of 89 years.
Melvin was born to parents John and Jessie McKay in Gilbert Plains, MB on July 2, 1935. He was raised in Gilbert Plains and attended country school.
He worked for Manitoba Hydro for a few years. He met his wife, Helmi, in St. Lazarre, MB. Together they had four boys, Mahlon, Hector, Kevin and Randy.
Melvin & Helmi returned to Gilbert Plains to farm with his dad and raise their family. Melvin was a kind and generous man. He loved hunting and making home brew.
Melvin was predeceased by his parents, John and Jessie, his wife Helmi and his sister Dorothy. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mahlon, Hector (Cheryl), Kevin (Joanne), Randy (Sue); his grandchildren, Maverick, Rain, Leaf, Kove, Apollo, Bairin, Rue and Dyre.
A Graveside Service and interment will be held for Melvin on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm from the Chatsworth Cemetery in Gilbert Plains with Rev. Steve Wilson officiating.
