Peacefully at
the Colville Manor, Souris, the passing of Barbara Ann Penny age 82,
occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023. Born in Nova Scotia, March 1,
1941, daughter of the late Seymour and Odessa (George) Meads. Survived
by her partner, Cecil MacDonald; children, Paul (Patsy) Meads, Bobby
(Marilyn) Penny, Debby (Steve) Sheffer, Billy (Gailene) Penny;
siblings, Claire Warren, Jerry (Trish) Meads, Bonnie (Francis) George;
brother-in-law, Harry Dobson; eleven cherished grandchildren, Twila,
Cheryl, Chad, Sidney, Megan, Hannah, Coady, Bradley, Steven, Nolan and
Shannon; eighteen adored great grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Czerny Penny, sister Babe
and brother-in-law Bert.
Known to all as
“Nanny Barb”, not only to her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren but also all of their friends and many members of
the community. Nanny Barb was a wonderful mother, caring and
compassionate grandmother and friend to many. She loved to cook and
bake and insisted on feeding anyone who came through her door. She
also always had lots of candy dishes out for the grandchildren.
Shopping was one of her favorite things to do and she took pride in
being well dressed. Barb, with a strong faith in God, was an active
member of the Anglican church and served as treasurer for many years.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The
family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care given to her
during her stay at Colville Manor. The care and compassion shown to
her by the entire staff will be forever remembered. A special thank
you as well to great friend, Sheila Dorion for her support and
kindness during this time.
Resting at
Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home, with visiting on Friday,
December 15, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral service to be held on
Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am, at St. George’s
Anglican Church, Montague. Interment to take place at a later date in
Souris.
