The death occurred peacefully at the
Maplewood Manor, on Friday, December 15, 2023, of Charles Arthur
Ashley, aged 83. Beloved husband of Marilyn (Rennie). Charles was born
on Fox Island, Alberton, November 8, 1940. He was the loving son of
the late Harold and Jessie (Harris) Ashley.
Cherished father to Kenny (Bev), Kevin
(Kelly), Judy (Billy) Fraser, Nancy (Wilbert), Kirk (Miranda), Kendall
(Connie). Loving Grandfather to, Tyson, Kendra, Karissa, Gregory,
Genna Kim, Glenn, Bronson, Jeneva, Brett, Evan, and a number of
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Susan
McCausland (late Rev. Randy), and brothers-in-law, Blois Rennie
(Nola), Troy Rennie (Maxine), sisters-in-law Ellen MacLeod (Doug),
Connie Rennie (late Gary), and many nieces and
nephews.
Charles was a hardworking man. He
farmed for many years and took pride in his Little Pond Farms. He was
well known for his rubber boots and would often be seen wearing them
around town. Charles had a great sense of humor and never missed the
chance to tease when the opportunity arose.
Predeceased by his sister, Sandra, and
her husband, Dave MacCollum, and his father and mother-in-law, Ralph
and Blanche Rennie.
Resting at Rooney Funeral Home, with
visitation Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral to take place at the Church
of the Nazarene, Elmsdale, Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow
in the Church Cemetary.
