It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Big Dan” MacMillan. Dan and his sister Lynette flew to Kelowna August 11th, 2024 to start their fight against Dan’s recently diagnosed esophageal cancer journey. After 3 months of his heroic battle, with his sister by his side, Dan passed away at home in Vernon, BC on Saturday November 9th, 2024.
Dan was known for his hard work, big love and most of all his humour. He loved the outdoors, whether he was on his motorbike, his sled, his side by side or on his beloved riverboat.
Dan was always there to lend a helping hand to all he knew and even those he didn’t know. He cherished time with his family and friends and especially with his children; Brooke, Daylon, Drea and his grandson Axton. They were the lights of his life.
Dan was predeceased by his father Doug MacMillan.
He is survived by his mother Hazel MacMillan, children, Brooke (Evan), Daylon, and Drea, grandson Axton, sister Lynette (Murray), nephews Kash, Kane, and Jaxon as well as numerous family and close friends who loved him dearly like a brother.
A service to celebrate Dans life will be held on Saturday November 30th, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Legion in Chetwynd, BC.
In Lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in honor of Dan to Hope Air.
