COELHO, Rosemarie Sousa, 91 passed away peacefully on September 15th at Richmond General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio in late 1988 and by her son John in 2019. She leaves behind her son Tony, daughter-in-laws Marilyn and Agnes, grand-daughter Natalia, her sister Irene, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rosemarie was born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. She immigrated to Vancouver with her son John to join her husband Antonio. Rose was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was also a long time employee at Sunnyhill hospital of which she had many fond memories.
Her husband died in 1988. She was a widow for many years often visiting her husband’s resting place. Rosemarie attended mass regularly and travelled to the Holy Land twice. She maintained her home, flower garden and tackled large jigsaw puzzles. Rosemarie was a private person yet enjoyed many a long walk in her neighbourhood and visits with her sons and their wives. She was particularly charmed with the arrival of a grand-daughter, Natalia Rosa.
Rosemarie moved into long term care in October 2022. We like to thank Jovy, MJ, Grace, Jackie, Jason, Sherwin and May of Hamilton Village for their care of Rose.
Her funeral will be on Thursday September 26th at 11 am at St. Jude’s Catholic Church 3078 Renfrew Street Vancouver, followed by entombment at Oceanview Cemetery 4000 Imperial Street Burnaby. Reception to follow at Kearney Funeral Services 219 6th Street New Westminster.
