With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gertrude Agnes Geernaert, who departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on October 5, 1940, in Edam, Saskatchewan, Trudy was a devoted Catholic whose faith and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
A lifelong member of the Catholic Church, Trudy was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved to create beautiful things. She was very skilled with sewing, embroidery, and jewelry making and was a longtime member of the CWL where her spirit of generosity and compassion was deeply felt.
She is survived by her loving husband, Theodore Geernaert; her beloved children, Terrence (Heidi) Geernaert, and Michelle Clark; her cherished grandchildren, Malika, (Randal) Warren, Cameron, Selena, Elizabeth (Michael) Naginis, Theodore, Jasher, Peirce, Benedict, Ripley, Alexander, Felicity, Katherine, Anastasia, and Charles; and her great-grandchildren, Jude and Lucy. She is also survived by her siblings, Lorraine (Leo) St. Pierre, Louise (Bruce) Greenwood.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honour at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish on September 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the Canadian Liver Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada in memory of Gertrude.
May the perpetual light shine upon her, and may the souls of all the faithfully departed, rest in the peace of Christ.
