Obituary for Clara Righele
June 30, 1942 – November 26, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mother, Clara Righele (nee Dal Brun) after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughters Elisa (Russell) and Ellena, her sisters, nieces, nephews and so many friends who loved and adored her.
Clara was born in Valdagno, VI in Northern Italy. As the eldest daughter in a family of six children, she began her working life at the tender age of ten. When her father passed she took his place at the textile factory Marzotto, working for many years to support her mother and younger sisters. She immigrated to Vancouver in 1970 and married Rino Righele, a union lasting over 53 years until his death in 2023.
Clara loved the jewelry business and she was especially talented and passionate about watch repair. In the 80’s she had her own jewelry store and then worked for Page & Wilson for a number of years until she went to San Marco Jewelers where she happily worked for over 25 years. She loved to be busy, and loved dealing with people, especially her beloved Italian community. For over 30 years she organized the Classe del 42 banquets and outings bringing joy and togetherness almost singlehandedly.
She devoted herself to her family and her husband in particular, helping him with loyalty, dedication and skill that was a source of admiration to everyone who knew her. Clara was always helping others, making people laugh with her cheeky wit and using her skills and talents to make us all happy. She loved going to the casino and her adventures down to the States are epic family tales. She had a passion for growing flowers and she adored foraging for mushrooms and was quite the expert.
Clara was such an elegant lady and always so well put together, but she was also so warm, funny, smart and very charming. She remained stunningly beautiful until her very last breath and to say that she will be missed is a huge understatement. She touched the lives of so many that her passing leaves a huge chasm in our family and in the hearts of everyone who knew her. We, her daughters are so proud of her, who she was and the legacy of love that she leaves behind.
We thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for her during her battle with cancer. She was such a strong woman that it feels impossible that she is gone. We will love you forever, Mom.
