Carol Anne Parsons (nee Davis)
August 14, 1938 – October 26, 2024
Carol Anne Parsons of Squamish, B.C passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 86 surrounded by family and love. She’s no longer in pain and was very grateful that she had the opportunity to choose her time.
Mom was born on August 14, 1938, in Welland, Ontario to Ray and Florence Davis of Wainfleet. Always an adventurer, after high school, she went to nursing school at Jeffrey Hale Hospital in Quebec City where she made many lifelong friends and graduated in 1959. In 1960, Mom, and her friend Dani, headed west for nursing jobs in Calgary. It was in Alberta that she met our dad, Reno Clayton Parsons, and the two spent their lives in small towns all over B.C including on Haida Gwaii, Meadow Creek, Zeballos and Squamish. Mom came back to Squamish after dad passed away in 1997. Mom loved her time in Squamish, where she worked at Howe Sound Secondary School and the School Board for many years and made many lifelong friends that she cherished to the end. She also loved to travel and went with her sister, Janice and other travel buddies all over the world: New Zealand, Malta, Spain, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Scotland and more. She always came back with lots of stories and mementos. When her far-travelling days were over, she did road trips all over BC and Alberta to see her grandkids and friends. In Squamish, she could be seen walking her little white dogs (either Pixie or Minnie) on Sp’akw’us Feather Park (formerly the Nexen Lands) and at Rose Park, where she loved to chat with other walkers, rain or shine. When she wasn’t out walking, she could be found painting beautiful landscapes from her travels or out in her little garden appreciating nature’s ebb and flow on the Slough. Mom had a strong community of friends in Squamish and in her apartment building, who supported her right up until the end. Thank you all.
Mom is survived by her daughter Terry (Gord) of Kamloops and her son, David (Dea) of Port Alberni; and by her grandchildren, Trevor (Sam), Kelly, Shane and Momo. She is pre-deceased by her youngest daughter, Kim, who sadly passed away in 2019. She is also survived by her two sisters, Marilyn Williams of Wainfleet and Janice Muirhead of Mount Hope in Ontario and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
The family would like to thank everyone who has shown Mom such kindness and companionship over the years. A big thank you to Dorothy Swanson, Dr. Klein and the lovely staff at the Squamish Hospice for all their support.
There is no service at her request. The family will have a private celebration this summer at one of Carol’s favorite spots.
