Born May 8th, 1936, St. Fidele de Restigouche, Quebec
Passed Away October 2nd, 2023 in Smithers, BC, at the age of 87
Our dear father Harry, was born in a small town in Quebec, to Frank and Patricia Doyle. He had 4 brothers and 3 sisters. In 1955, He met the love of his life, Helene and they were married on August 15th, 1959. In 1983, they made the move from Quebec to Smithers, BC. Harry worked for VIA Rail for 9 years. He and Helene taught ballroom dancing in Roman Catholic School gym once a week and privately in homes for those who could not attend. In 1992 Harry took early retirement which allowed him and Helene to begin their journey as “snowbirds” for 12 years. In 2005, they settled in Houston which they’ve called home ever since. But in God’s good timing, He took unto himself, Harry’s wife Helene, on October 2nd, 2023. He missed her dearly and his one wish was to be reunited with her.
Harry loved any adventure he took on as long as it was with his beloved wife. Mushroom picking, carpet bowling with senior friends, playing games were among his favorites. He also loved playing guitar (bluegrass music) and singing. His grand children also enjoyed listening to him. One of their favorite songs was Billy Billy Bayou.
He leaves behind four children: Mitchell, Johanne (Alain), Carole, and Kathy (Rick), his grandchildren Kevin and Dave, Jonathan and Danny, Crystal (Nelson), Amber, Laura (Glory) and Max, and his great grandchildren Casey and Ainsley-Rose.
We would like to thank everyone who cared for him in any way. From medical assistance, for meals brought in, for visits, for afternoon games, for prayers, or whatever else we may have forgotten.
A Funeral Service will be held October 21st, 2023 at 10:00 AM, at St. Anthony’s Parish in Houston, BC.
