Fred Olsson Obituary
Fred Olsson passed away peacefully at the Queen Victoria Hospital, in the early hours of Sunday, April 28, surrounded by his loved ones. Fred was 80 years old and spent 58 years married to the love of his life, Karen. Together, Fred and Karen had two daughters (Cherie [Martin] and Tammy [Dwayne], four grandchildren (Joshua, Taylor, Tori and Miya) and of course, his Kira, who were all the best parts of Fred’s life.
Fred will be remembered as a man who gave his all to everything he did in life. He lived life with passion and whether he was golfing, building trains, or working on a project, Fred was the person that everyone could count on. Fred lived his life being of service to others. His career as a firefighter and also his work at the hospital highlighted his work ethic but also his compassion for others.
Fred surrounded himself with such special friends and the memories that Fred created with friends will be forever cherished. While we lost our most beloved husband, dad and grandpa, many have lost a friend and loved one in Fred. He has been a support to so many, with such an incredible sense of humour and the “gift of the gab.” There was so much more to him than just husband, dad, and grandpa, though to us that was his greatest gift- he was also a friend, a coworker, a brother, a brother-in-law, a handyman, an artist, a garden designer, home builder, bread maker, and fixer of anything!
More than anything, Fred loved his family. He was the heart of all of us and the pride and love he had for his wife, his daughters and his grandchildren will be forever treasured.
