Dianne Cant Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dianne on Monday, November 4, 2024, after a brief and courageous battle against cancer. She leaves behind a loving family: husband of 62 years, Barclay; daughter Lisa and son-in-law Greg, grandchildren Alicia and John and six great-grandchildren; son Brent and daughter-in-law Sherry; son Dennis, daughter-in-law Tara and grandson Sam; sister Gail and family; sister-in-law Anita and family.
Dianne was born to Wilfrid and Grace Johnston in Gilroy, Saskatchewan on May 31, 1943. She was raised in Moose Jaw, where she met Barclay, and they married in August 1962. Dianne and Barclay loved to dance, leading them to instructing dance classes for many in Moose Jaw during the 70’s and 80’s.
While raising a family, Dianne embarked on a dream to become a nurse, commuting almost daily from Moose Jaw to the University of Regina to pursue her degree, graduating as an LPN in 1982.
An avid competitive curler earlier in life and devoted fan of the sport for decades thereafter, Dianne enjoyed watching every major curling event with Barclay. They never strayed far from their roots, cheering on teams from Saskatchewan (often) and Canada (always). Dianne and Barclay retired to British Columbia, living in Sorrento, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, and Vernon, finally settling in Penticton.
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Penticton Regional Hospital, along with Dr. Killian, for their dedicated care during Dianne’s time of need. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the BC Cancer Foundation.
