Maureen Valda Nicholas, 74, passed away on November 1, 2024, in Nelson, BC, just one day shy of her 75th birthday. Born on November 2, 1949, Maureen lived a life marked by kindness and a joyous spirit that drew people to her.
Throughout her career at the Ministry of Transportation & Highways, Maureen was dedicated and diligent, contributing significantly to her community through her work. Beyond her professional life, she was deeply engaged in practicing Qigong, which reflected her commitment to personal well-being and mindfulness.
Maureen was a beacon of love and friendship, maintaining lifelong connections that began in her childhood and extended throughout her life. Her ability to nurture relationships was unparalleled, making every friend feel like family.
She is survived by her son, Gerald McCrae; a granddaughter Brandi; her sister, Dianne (Bob) Pepper; Her Sister in Law Ann and numerous nieces and nephews. Maureen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lincoln, her parents, William Wallace (Wally) and Irene (Morgan) Thomson, her son Stewart James McCrae, her brothers John (Johnny) Wallace Thomson and Stewart Morgan Thomson, and her niece Sherry Stinson.
A celebration of Maureen’s life will be held on June 6 /2025 in Victoria., where friends and family can gather to honour her memory and the joy she brought into their lives.
