William Patrick Catalano
Born in Trail, BC on November 7th, 1936. Passed at his home in Vancouver, BC, February 6th, 2024. He was 87.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Pasqualina and Charles Catalano, brothers, Edward Catalano, Eugene Catalano, Chas Catalano and sister Violet Arcuri.
His loving wife Shauna of 25 years, his children Ben (daughter in law Tracie), Allan and Michelle, survive him. He also had six grandchildren who he adored: Alicia(Nick), Amanda(Cole), Ireland, Rogan, Nicholas and Maxson. His sister Flora (96yrs) who lives in Toronto also survives him, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bill cherished his memories of growing up in Trail and all of the childhood friends he had who greatly influenced his life. In 2020, he wrote a memoir to his family highlighting the many experiences and life lessons of being born and raised in Trail. Bill graduated from the University of Alberta from the faculty of Dentistry in 1963. He later moved to Vancouver to practice dentistry where he enjoyed a long and successful career. In 1995, Bill joined the faculty of dentistry at UBC as a clinical assistant professor. A job that he thoroughly enjoyed until his final days where he positively affected the lives of the students that he supported. Bill enjoyed many activities with his many friends such as travel, golf, fishing, hockey etc. He was an avid sports fan, an excellent cook and a great joke teller! In his retirement years, Bill also endeavored to become a wood carver, revealing a secret talent that he shared with so many of us.
A celebration of life will be held on March 23rd, 2024 at the Confederation Community Center in Burnaby, in the Grand Hall from 1-3. All are welcome. Doors open at 1pm, speeches at 1:15, followed by a gathering. maps.app.goo.gl/8TWcZAm8BvC96cas6
