It is with heavy hearts we announce that Lisa Verona Slauenwhite (nee Jones) passed away on August 12, 2024 at Vancouver General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61.
Lisa is survived by her husband Eric, sons Cameron and Christopher, and daughter Elysa. She is also survived by her mother Verona Jones, sister Shelley, brothers Todd (Donna) and Mark (Stephanie), and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Robert Jones and her sister Angela Hartt.
Lisa was an avid traveler, spending much of her childhood relocating around Nova Scotia for her father’s work she learned to always be moving and finding new adventures. From this she went on to Nepal where she walked on Mount Everest, Australia where she scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef, and many other places while enjoying new foods and cultures from around the world. In addition to travel, Lisa was heavily involved with volunteer work. Whether it be with Dietitian’s of Canada, Canadian Association of Food Service Professionals, or working on the executive boards of volunteer organizations in her local areas she was always willing to lend a hand where needed. One of Lisa’s greatest passions was crafting. She could always be found knitting, crocheting, quilting, or scrapbooking. She loved making gifts for friends and family and adding personalized details to show she cared. She also loved baking, gardening, and spending time with her family and pets. Lisa made friends wherever she went, her glass was always half full and she had a smile on her face. She was and still is well loved and lived a life filled with kindness. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on August 31st, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at St James Community Square, located at 3214 W 10th Ave, Vancouver. A second celebration will occur in Nova Scotia on September 28th, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pmat St John the Evangelist Anglican Church Hall, located at 954 Old Sackville Rd, Middle Sackville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Bladder Cancer Canada.
