James (Jim) Ernest Morgan
April 13, 1936 – Feb 18, 2024
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of James (Jim) Ernest Morgan.
A larger-than-life character, he will be missed deeply by family and friends and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years Ruth, his children Frank (Faith), Brenda (Jeff), David (Anita) and Lyle and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his little four-legged sidekick Tucker. Jim is also survived by his older sister Joyce and his younger brother Bob.
Raised in Coquitlam, Dad shared childhood memories of growing up near the Vancouver golf club, salvaging golf balls and earning spending money with the odd caddy gig. He proudly served as a Captain with the Coquitlam Fire Department and was a member of the first full time crew established in 1968. Always willing to lend a helping hand, his big heart and generous spirit was well known. He spent many years assisting with the annual Jimmy Christmas Hamper campaign, and many Christmas seasons included delivering hampers to those in need within the community.
Dad was an avid hunter and looked forward to yearly outings up the Alaskan highway with his long-time devoted hunting crew. He enjoyed the annual fishing trips to Adam’s Lake, although we never really recall any fish making it home… In his retirement years he loved to spend time with his grandchildren, regularly heading out to a sports field or a cold ice rink to watch them in action. He and Ruth enjoyed travelling. He loved being behind the wheel driving, and they would often set off on adventures in their RV to the Southern states and Baja Mexico to enjoy the warm weather and the friendliness of the locals.
Dad was a great role model, he taught us all the value of integrity and how to live a life with compassion. He was a kind, caring and generous man and will be missed dearly by those whose lives he touched.
~Forever in our hearts. ~
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1025 Ridgeway Ave, Coquitlam BC.
