Charles Brian Penney
Brian was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 3, 1943, to parents Ernie and Madeline Penney.
It is with deep sadness that we have to announce the passing of our beloved Brian at the age of 80. He passed at home surrounded by his family. He was under the care of his family and the staff of the BC Cancer Palliative Care Program.
Brian is survived by his wife, Erika of 56 years, Daughter Susan (Mark), Son Jason, Sister Phyllis, Sister- in- law Marianne, Sister- in- law Monika (Wayne), Brother in law Gunther (Karin), nieces and nephews Kathie (Ward), Joe (Leigh), Pamela (Frank), Lisa, Chrissy (Craig), Sonja, Nico, Karl (Mandy), Jeremy (Ivy), Kiana (Brandon), and great nieces and nephews, Skyler, Hunter, Giada, Stella, Anson, Benny and Fallon along with many cousins and many friends that were so special to him.
Brian was a warm person with a generous heart. Always giving to others and asking nothing in return. He saw the world through his heart and appreciated the smallest gestures in life. He always had a smile for a stranger and was willing to help anyone in need.
Brian loved spending time with his family and friends. He kept everyone entertained with his great sense of humor and storytelling. He was passionate about music and cars. He could tell you the make, model and year of every hot rod that crossed his path. He went to car shows, drag races and collected many friends along the way.
Brian loved to be out in the garden and especially loved his tomatoes. He was creative, smart and talented in so many areas of his life. He mastered the art of furniture refinishing, worked on cars and was generous sharing his knowledge and time with others. He enjoyed going for coffee and was known for his great hair.
Brian’s greatest loves were his family and friends. His loyalty and love encompassed his entire being. He was strong, warm and caring. He supported all of us with his love and kindness. His memory will live through his smiling eyes, comforting words and generosity. He gave from the most sincere place in his heart and was always there when we needed him.
Brian, you will be missed by your family, friends and by all the people whose lives you touched. You will be remembered for the shine in your smiling eyes, and for the love and generosity that you shared with all the people who crossed your path. You left an imprint on the hearts of many who loved you and were fortunate enough to have known you. May your journey be abundant in love and bring you every happiness that your heart could imagine.
The Penney family would like to thank our amazing medical team for all their compassion and for the care they gave to Brian. We would like to recognize our nurses and home care workers that came to our home for their time and support. Special thanks to Dr. Sandy Chan and Joanna.
