Brunhilde Koriath (nee Raffelsieper) passed away on Tuesday August 20th, 2024, in Kelowna, British Columbia, two days after her 95th birthday.
She was born in Radevormwald, Germany on August 18th, 1929, a daughter of the late Richard and Dorothea (Scheide) Raffelsieper.
She married her beloved husband Gerhard Koriath in 1952, and they were married for 38 years until his sudden passing in 1990.
In 1953 while living in Germany, Brunhilde and Gerhard welcomed daughter Dorothee. Four years later they made the big decision to relocate to British Columbia, Canada, where they welcomed son Peter in 1962.
Brunhilde was a devoted wife and mother, and as her children grew and started their own families, she became an Oma to six grandchildren. She was in her element as a grandmother, and she became a chef, a seamstress, a chauffer, a babysitter, a teacher, a storyteller, and a historian to them all.
As time went on, her grandchildren had kids of their own, and she soon had 5 great-grandchildren. She absolutely adored them, and they absolutely adored her in return.
She is predeceased by her parents and husband, her sister, Asta Raffelsieper, her sister-in-law Alice Raffelsieper, her brother-in-laws Augustus and Walter Koriath, and her granddaughter Bonnie Koriath.
Brunhilde is survived by daughter Dorothee Anderson, son Peter Koriath and wife Glenna, brother Wilhem Raffelsieper, grandchildren Michael Anderson and partner Anna Graham Day, Matthew Anderson and wife Starr Harvey Anderson, Ryan Koriath and wife Katie, Shane Koriath and partner Taylor Henderson and Nolan Koriath and fiancé Carley Paterson, great-grandchildren Charlotte & Dexter Day, Luna Anderson, and Penelope & Izabella Koriath, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Her family was the center of her life, and she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
