Stanko Botic Obituary
February 20, 1955 – December 10, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Stanko Botic after a short very brave battle with cancer.
Stanko was born in Koprivnica Croatia immigrating to Canada in 1968 where he grew up in Steveston Richmond eventually moving to the Okanagan. He worked at various jobs including Coca-Cola, Bourbon Street Restaurant, Jonathan Segal’s Restaurant, Western Star Trucks production line for several years until it’s closure, and finally to Brink’s Canada as an ATM Technician.
Stanko enjoyed the Okanagan, over the years he spent time at Big White ski hill, camping, boating, beaching, travelling to Mexico and the US and most of all riding his Harley Davidson when he had a chance. He was a music man through and through who loved going to various concerts. He always found new music of all genres to playlist and often beat his drums to the many rhythms, never forgetting his Croatian roots and their music.
He is survived by his wife Joanne of 38 years, daughter Amanda, son Mike (Leanne) and grandsons Luka and Nichola. Predeceased by his parents Pero and Nada.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the wonderful caring team at Kelowna General Hospital over the past 3 weeks.
Stanko will be DEEPLY missed by his family, friends and coworkers.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Stanko’s memory at Peachland closer to summer.
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be
So he closed his arms around you
and whispered “Come to Me”
Your smile is gone forever
Your hands we cannot touch
All we have is memories
Of the one we loved so much
He took you to his garden
He thought that this was best
God’s garden must be beautiful
He’s laid you there to rest
