Lucian Egert, born June 7, 1931, in Rudnik, Poland, peacefully passed away on June 20, 2023, in Kelowna, BC, surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the community.
Lucian’s spirit now joins his grandson (d. 2022), and nine of his siblings. His memory will live in the hearts of his loving family: Herta, his wife of 68 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Erwin & Rita Egert, and grandchildren Jayson and Chantelle Egert; and his daughter Carmen Rossdutscher, grandchildren Alexis and McKenzie Rossdeutscher. He is also survived by two remaining siblings, Ruth Rae and Eugene Egert.
Lucian immigrated to Canada from Poland as a young boy and settled in Kelowna, where he established deep roots. A skilled homebuilder, he specialized in custom homes from the early 1960s until his retirement in the mid-1990s. His craftsmanship graced many homes and commercial buildings in Kelowna, including his involvement in constructing the Cottonwoods Care Centre.
Known for his creativity, Lucian often drafted his own building designs, bringing his visions to life with meticulous detail and dedication. Beyond his profession, he was devoted to his family, celebrating 68 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Herta. Together, they cultivated a love for gardening and explored numerous destinations across Canada, the US, and abroad.
A pillar of Grace Baptist Church, Lucian found joy in serving his community and fellow church members. He was admired for his extraordinary patience and compassion, especially towards seniors, whom he supported with kindness and understanding.
Among his cherished memories was the collaborative project of building an oversized doghouse with his grandson Jayson, designed to accommodate a St. Bernard for a dear friend.
The family expresses deep gratitude to the compassionate staff at David Lloyd Jones Home, where Lucian spent his final years. Their support during challenging times, including navigating COVID-19 protocols, was invaluable and deeply appreciated.
Lucian Egert will be fondly remembered for his unwavering faith, generosity, and the enduring legacy of craftsmanship and kindness he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Service will be held to honour Lucian’s life on TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM (PDT), in the Chapel of SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME: 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
